In an industry where a new artist is often described as a variation of one or more other artists, Sonyae Elise is leaping onto the music scene with a “Rebel” sound all her own. Born and raised in New Jersey, Sonyae was brought up in a musically minded household and has since found she’s tended to be "ahead of the pack” as a result of her “Mother’s musical lifestyle and my father’s street lifestyle.” Beginning with an interest in the theatre in Third Grade, Sonyae’s desire to entertain eventually landed her on musical theatre’s biggest stage as a performer on and off Broadway in productions such as Lion King, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors and Rag Time.
Sonyae’s background has produced a confident, alluring, rebellious, and lyrically gifted songwriter with mass audience and critical appeal. At just 15, her natural talent got the attention of Sony Records and Multi-Platinum production duo ‘Midi Mafia’ (50 Cent, Jennifer Lopez, Fantasia, Justin Bieber and more) who- along with Ski Beats, A.U, Brite Ware and JV- produced parts of her mixtape, “Lady Rebel”. Sonyae’s latest gig pits her against other aspiring singer-songwriters in a competition to create the best songs under pressure on Season 1 of Bravo TV’s “Platinum Hit, where the sexy songstress is eliciting interest in critics and fans alike.
Sonyae is an original talent with a sound all her own and the desire to have her listeners “to laugh, cry, heal, dance or scream, whatever they feel” and has nothing but thoughts of big things to come in her future.
